I was excited to visit Al's shop, but I was not willing to walk up after seeing that the entry to the store front was taken over by multiple homeless people who appeared to be using drugs. I've lived in rough neighborhoods, and I'm not generally afraid, but this was really bad. I'm not knocking Al, as I'm sure this is a huge problem for him, but I am warning others of what they may encounter. It was disappointing to make the drive over there only to feel like it was not safe to even park let alone walk through the front door. I hope the city is working with him to protect his business and customers.

The owner had trouble finding a part for my bike so he offered to install the part off of one of his personal bikes, and at a great price. Very kind of him. I'll be recommending him to my friendsđź‘Ť

I think I found a Gem in the Valley. The reviews meet the expectations. Not only was the tech really nice but he adjusted my brakes, installed a headlight and adviced on the steps I need to take when I do need new brake pads. I love that it's 5 min away from house. He gave me a good price and the work was done within the same day.

I want to share my disappointing experience at Al's Recycle Bike Shop. This place feels more like a cluttered rental space in a commercial building than a legitimate bike shop, overflowing with disorganized piles of random bike parts and accessories, giving off a garage or junkyard vibe. They advertise parts as new, but these items are sold without packaging or warranties, which is misleading. They also charge inflated prices for these parts, failing to provide the quality you would expect. To make matters worse, they impose shipping charges on in-store purchases—a practice I’ve never encountered before unless an item is being shipped directly to you. Who pays for shipping on Amazon or similar services when products typically arrive within two to three days? This approach feels extremely dishonest. While Jason, the mechanic, is knowledgeable and competent, my interactions with the owner, Al, were far from satisfactory. Al is seldom present in the shop, and my few phone conversations with him were uncomfortable. He often uses the shop phone to complain about jobs taking too long and has even disrespected customers on the shop's Ring camera. Such unprofessional behavior is unacceptable and completely uncalled for. Despite spending a considerable amount of money on bike repairs during my visits, Al was unhelpful when discrepancies arose. His lack of professionalism and consideration was frustrating. It seems Jason is caught in a position where he simply follows Al's directives without any real support. I will be checking up on the required licenses, as this owner does not seem to act professionally or care about the public or consumers. I will also be contacting the California Department of Consumer Affairs regarding this matter. It is unacceptable to treat customers poorly, engage in unfair business practices, or gaslight them when they bring feedback to your attention. Customers deserve respect and professionalism, not to be attacked for sharing their experiences. I urge fellow bike owners to be cautious with this shop. Protect your peace of mind, your money, and your investments. There are plenty of other bike shops that prioritize customer service and professionalism. I will not be returning to Al's Recycle Bike Shop, and I hope this review helps others avoid wasting their time and energy here.

My daughter needed her bike fixed and we chose the repair shop with the highest reviews. Al's Recycle definitely delivered with their high rating. She was having difficulty on longer bike rides because the brakes were rubbing against the rim, the throttle shifters had too much tension, and the derailer was acting funny. Jason was there and knowledgeable. He was able to help us install a new seat, trigger shifters, a water bottle holder, new gear cables, new break cables, everything. This repair shop really goes above and beyond, the bike feels brand new. It's nice to know that they stand behind their work!
