I asked Nick so many questions and he was honest and knowledgeable with his answers. I asked him about a certain bike accessory and another staff just straight up said “it sucks.” I’m glad they weren’t trying to sell me on useless things. I ended up buying the Vektron folding e-bike.

Belmont Wheelworks is a bicycle family even more than it is a retailer. Cycling whether we like it or not, has inherent risk. The associates at this store are cycling experts and many times experienced cyclists themselves. Peter Mooney, a frame building master in the true sense a metallurgist of superior talent. He might even recommend a nice saddle bag too. Clinton Paige, the cofounder with Peter, and 3 times Olympian Jonathan Allis, is a businessman that is just as at home pedaling one of his bicycles on Zwift, as at a business meeting of the highest accord. I love this shop, and I'm dang sure, they love me too!

I had a terrible experience at this bike shop and I strongly advise against using their services. Two years ago, I took my bike in for servicing due to brake issues. After explaining the problem to the service rep, he recommended switching to sintered metal pads and performing a brake bleed. However, when I picked up my bike after it was finally ready two weeks later, I found out that the brake bleed was not done and the pads were replaced with the incorrect ones. The technician tried to convince me that the regular pads he installed were correct, even though they clearly were not. When I asked for a refund or to have the old pads put back on, the shop owner intervened and insisted that I would be charged both for the incorrect pads and for replacing them with the old ones. Since then, I've switched to other bike shops and have had much better experiences. However, this weekend I found myself in need of a dropper post cable right before a ride, and this shop was the closest. I decided to give them one more chance. I called ahead to ensure they had the cable in stock and asked if I could speak to a technician about a few installation questions. The rep on the phone said I could. But when I arrived, a different rep greeted me, retrieved the part, and flatly refused to let me ask any questions to a technician. It’s clear that they are more than happy to take my money but provide zero help to their customers. I highly recommend finding another bike shop that values their customers and provides the support and service you deserve.

I purchased a new road bike at Belmont Wheelworks last week. I’ve been in this store a handful of times but have never purchased a bike there. I was slightly skeptical with the mix reviews, but I have to say my overall experience was pretty solid. I did most of the research on the bike prior to going in and therefore did not need much assistance on that front. That said, I thought Michael was professional and knowledgeable. I was in the fence about a fitting, but a friend talked me into it. Let me tell you it’s well worth it! Ed was fantastic! This guy really knew his stuff. Part cyclist, part physical therapist, part mad scientist. Whether you are an intermediate rider like myself or avid rider, Ed will provide guidance that you simply can’t get at other shops. My advice is do your own homework beforehand. Bikes are not a small investment and can last you a lifetime. And don’t cheap out and get the fitting. You’ll thank yourself.

Yesterday we left Wheelworks with two new e-bikes and a trailer, and we are so glad that we got everything at Wheelworks. While they seem to be a shop for intensely serious cyclists, we leisure bikers were treated very well by Scott in the sales process, and Ben in the installation and “how to” process, that we actually had a fun day making the purchase. We went across the street to have breakfast and when we came back 30 min later, the had assembled the rack, put it on our car, and put one of the bikes on it for us. It was all followed by a thorough and patient demonstration of how everything works. Thank you Ben and Scott for a wonderful experience!!
