Campus Bike Shop Introduce

Campus Bike Shop, located in Tresidder Memorial Union, 459 Lagunita Dr #12, Stanford, CA 94305, provides bicycle rental services. You can reach them at (650) 723-9300 or +1 650-723-9300.

Customer reviews present a mixed experience with Campus Bike Shop's rental services. Some customers have praised the shop for its availability of bikes, particularly road bikes, when other stores were out of stock. They also appreciated the ease of reserving bikes and the competitive pricing.

During the rental process, customers have found the staff to be patient, friendly, and helpful, especially during bike setup. The shop has also been commended for its quick and accommodating service when addressing gear issues.

However, one customer reported a negative experience regarding a long-term rental. They were required to return the bike early, despite having a rental agreement for a longer period. They also experienced conflicting information regarding a potential refund and reported a lack of response to their inquiries. This points to potential inconsistencies in their rental policies and communication.

On the other hand, a customer who damaged a rented bike was pleasantly surprised by the shop's understanding and lack of surcharges after a minor repair, leading to a positive impression. This shows a level of understanding and fairness that is appreciated.

Overall, Campus Bike Shop offers convenient bike rentals with generally positive customer interactions, but potential renters should be aware of possible inconsistencies in rental policies and communication, particularly regarding long-term rentals and refunds.

I rented a bike from Campus Bike Shop for three months but was forced to return it early in December with no option to return it later—despite having a rental agreement through the end of the year. One staff member had told me I’d receive a partial refund for the unused period, but upon returning the bike, another staff member informed me there would be no refund at all. I’ve tried reaching out by email about this and still haven’t received any answer. I expected better service.

Rented a road bike from these guys. They had stock other stores didn’t, made it easy to put the bike on hold, and have prices that are as good or better than anyone else. During pickup, they were patient, friendly, and helpful getting me set up. When I came back the next day to have them look at a gear issue, they were just as quick and accommodating I ended up crashing the bike on a ride and doing some damage, and was worried about big repair fees. They could not have been more chill and understanding when I brought it back, and after taking a couple minutes to fix some pieces up, sent me on my way without any fuss or surcharges. Will definitely be coming back here for my next rental

Brought my bike in 3 times for a de-railer fix and a bent back wheel, spent hundreds and they put on a new derailer that doesn't fit/ still bends the back wheel. they know what they're doing but somehow messed this up and now i'm out a lot of money and starting again with a bent back wheel. i think there's cheaper and friendlier options near palo alto, if you can: avoid.

This place literally robs you blind. I've been scammed and lied to about repair costs. After dropping off my bike, they promised to fix it within 5 days. On the day I was supposed to pick it up, they told me it wasn't ready yet and asked me to come back the next day. But that morning, they told me it was impossible for them to repair it because they had misjudged the bike, resulting in additional costs of over $180. I don't understand this since when I brought the bike in, it was fully functional and didn't have this issue. They returned it to me completely unusable after 6 days, simply apologizing that they couldn't "operate" due to their internal policies, deeming it "unsafe" to repair the bike. Not only are the employees straight-up lying, but their prices are laughably inflated, and the quality of their tires is atrocious. This campus bike shop clearly has a monopoly. They're the only option available and know they can charge whatever they want. They're lying about repair costs and will charge you DOUBLE or TRIPLE what they initially quote. The word "scam" gets used a lot, but this place is a genuine scam. I'd rather lug my bike miles to the nearest off-campus shop than get ripped off here again.

TLDR: This bike shop is a complete scam !!! From overcharging to debatable repairs and unprofessional behavior, I don't want to hear from them ever again in my lifetime ! I've been lied to about repair costs not once, not twice, but multiple times. It's a robbery disguised as a business guys. I rented a bike from them, paying around 700$ for a simple road bike for 10 days. After 3 days, I noticed the brakes were constantly pushing against the wheels and it got harder and harder to keep pedaling. I brought in my bike for brake repairs at the same shop and complained about the bike which should have been in good condition to ride straight away. Not only they took 3 hours to repair it, leaving me hanging around and wondering when I would receive their call. BUT THEY ALSO charged me a fee, and a $85 fee at that. Unknowing the policies about bike rental repairs in the area, I decided to pay and leave it at that, although it was annoying. Guess what? The brakes were still rubbing against the pads afterwards! When I brought it up, the mechanic said he forgot to unscrew a piece and refused to admit any fault and excuse himself, which was very unprofessional. He took another hour to repair the bike, which was fine after that. After another 2 days, I decided to take my bike in for a simple wheel alignment and the person in charge of repairing my bike, an asian dude, managed break six spokes. HOW IN THE WORLD IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?! and then he had the nerve to demand $110 for the repair which had to be done ????!!! I couldn't bear it and spoke out as to how irresponsible and unprofessional the repair was and how I will not pay any reparation of damage which I was not responsible of, which they accepted. I told them they had to finish repairing it before the opening time (9am) the next day since I had a long trip to do that day but when I arrived there at opening time, they said the bike I rented had been stolen and couldn't provide me with another one. Absolutely unacceptable. Bottom line: this place is a den of thieves. They'll promise to fix your bike in a certain time frame and they will tell you it's not possible, or they will manage to break something and then hit you with a bill for their own incompetence ! Their prices are totally exorbitant, their service is a joke, and their monopoly on campus ensures they can get away with it. Save yourself from this hassle , steer clear of this scam of a bike shop. 2 stars because I still managed to use the bike for the first few days
