The Wheel Thing Introduce

The Wheel Thing, located at 417 N La Grange Rd, La Grange Park, IL 60526, is a bicycle store offering repair and sales services. You can reach them at (708) 352-3822 or +1 708-352-3822.

Customer reviews indicate a mixed experience with The Wheel Thing. One customer reported a costly tubeless tire setup that later experienced issues. When the customer sought assistance, they were disappointed by the shop's perceived lack of support, citing being told the shop was too busy to help, and were only offered to purchase replacement parts to do the repair themselves. This customer then took their bike to another shop, who fixed the issue quickly and for a low price, questioning the value of the original service.

Conversely, another customer had a positive experience purchasing a bike for their 5-year-old. They praised Beau, a staff member, for being helpful and patient, guiding them towards used bike options to save money. They also appreciated the shop's attention to detail in setting up the bike and installing training wheels.

These reviews highlight a potential inconsistency in service quality. While some customers have found the staff helpful and the service satisfactory, others have experienced issues with repairs and customer support. Potential customers should consider these varying experiences when deciding whether to use The Wheel Thing.

I recently had a flat tire on my road bike and decided it was the right time to switch to a tubeless setup. After researching, I chose this shop based on their positive reviews. The total cost for setting up both tires, along with some minor adjustments, came to $367. Unfortunately, just over a month later, I encountered issues with both tires. The front tire lost most of its sealant and went flat, while the rear tire’s valve core came off and was lost. While I understand that tubeless setups can be delicate, I was disappointed by the shop's unwillingness to assist when I reached out for help. They explained they were too busy with repairs to offer assistance, which felt contradictory given that they had no issue charging me $367 for the initial work. When I contacted the shop, I was told that the best they could do was sell me the sealant and a replacement valve core, leaving me to handle the repairs myself. One of the reasons I choose to invest in professional service at a bike shop is the expectation that they will provide support when issues arise. In the end, I took my bike to another shop, where they resolved the issue in under 10 minutes and charged me only $16. This experience has left me questioning the value of the service provided.

I went here with my 5 year old to pick out a bike for her birthday. Beau was very helpful and patient and even guided us toward some used bike options to save money some money and also recycle a nice bike to a new home. They took the time to set it up properly and install training wheels.

Jeff is Amazing! I frequently ride a bike that is more than forty years old and every recommendation he has made to maintain and improve my bike has paid off Especially a recent issue with my tires Jeff recommended a replacement tire that was a much better fit for the riding I was doing, Thanks So Much To You and Your Team

A year old late review. Got my hybrid Crosstrail bike from them for a main use of daily trail run and hauling my 3yr son’s Incase bike trailer. Great staff! Reasonable price! Knowledge and advice was top notch. The store owner Kevin is always there to answers any questions.

There was some recent confusion on customer names as I went to pick up my bike which was being tuned up. The team apologized for the error, they happen, and then jumped to wrapping up their work on it in the last 20 minutes that the store was open on a Sunday. It's bike season and I am sure they are busy. I would recommend this shop. Thanks Wheel Thing team!
