I just went there today and for $18 they topped off my bike and carriage tires and even advised me what part I was missing to attach the two together. Even offered to help with that if I run into a snag. They were also super friendly and personable too. I feel like they'll be my pit crew anytime I need something fixed. Thank you so much! I look forward to joining others on the bike lanes with goods in tow.

This is the best bike store on the west side. The vibes are right, the people are super helpful and the prices are fair. This is exactly the kind of community small business I want to support. I’ll definitely be back.

Update: Just so you know, this isn’t some automated thing—it's me again, the same unhappy customer. After my review, the owner responded with insults and mocking instead of addressing my concerns. He even called me a "terrorist" just because I asked about the cost breakdown. Honestly, it’s unbelievable that a business owner would treat someone like this. If you want respect and fair treatment, stay away from The Zoo Cycles. I recently had a frustrating experience at The Zoo Cycles that I feel I need to share. I went to them to have my bike's rear wheel respoked because the spokes kept breaking under the weight of my wife and our 3-year-old son riding in the back seat. I chose this shop because it’s close to home (less than a mile away) and had good reviews, but I wish I hadn’t. At first, everything seemed fine. I spoke to the shop clerk when I dropped off the bike, and he told me the mechanic (or owner, Tom) would get back to me with a quote. No red flags at that point. I even brought my own set of quality spokes that I bought for under $20, but a few days later, Tom texted me to say that the spokes I provided were too long. He said he could either replace just the broken spokes or order a new set. I insisted on replacing all the spokes, as I wanted to avoid future breakage. Here’s where things started to go wrong. I went on vacation for a couple of weeks and left the bike with them, trusting they would handle it. Tom never mentioned the cost of the new spokes, and I assumed they would be reasonably priced. When I returned, I was stunned to find out that the spokes cost $71, in addition to the $120 labor fee I had agreed to. I’ve never heard of spokes costing that much, and I was shocked. When I asked Tom about this, he just said, “That’s what they cost from our distributor.” I asked for proof, like an invoice, but he refused, saying he didn’t need to or couldn’t provide one. After some back and forth, he offered a small 10% discount, but that didn’t make up for the lack of transparency. Tom also claimed he had sent me a text with the final invoice and cost before doing the work, but I never received any message. Maybe it was a connection issue while I was abroad, but I never saw the message, so I had no chance to approve or reject the cost. By the time I found out, the job was already done, and I felt pressured to pay the full $191. When I expressed my frustration, Tom’s response was, “We can take the spokes off if you want,” which wasn’t helpful at all. While the work was completed on time, the way they handled communication and pricing left a lot to be desired. There was no transparency about the cost, and the refusal to provide proof only made things worse. Bottom Line: I wouldn’t recommend The Zoo Cycles. If you’re looking for clear communication and honest pricing, find a different bike shop. I won’t be going back.
