As a “Bicycle Shops Near Me” option, Turin Bicycle has received mixed reviews. While some customers have praised their maintenance work and unicycle repairs, others have criticized their handling of non-house e-bikes.

Here’s what Turin Bicycle offers:

  • Bike Maintenance: They offer regular maintenance work on bikes.
  • E-Bike Repair: They have experience repairing traditional e-bikes.
  • Unicycle Repair: They offer unicycle repair services.
  • Tire Liner Installation: They offer tire liner installation to prevent punctures.

Customer reviews present a divided view of Turin Bicycle. One customer shared a negative experience, detailing how the shop owner refused to work on their cargo e-bike due to it being purchased from a third-party seller. The customer felt insulted and dismissed, despite having previously had positive experiences with the shop's technicians. This customer also mentioned that the shop lacked the equipment to support the cargo e-bike. Another customer praised the shop for making their unicycle look brand new.

The shop appears to have a knowledgeable team for standard bike maintenance and unicycle repairs. However, there may be limitations in their ability or willingness to service non-house e-bikes, particularly those with unique designs. Customers should be aware of this potential limitation before bringing in specialized e-bikes.

If you're in the Chicago, IL, area and need maintenance work on a standard bike or unicycle repairs, Turin Bicycle might be a suitable option. However, if you have a non-standard e-bike, you may want to consider other shops.

How to lose a customer in 300 seconds: I've been coming to Turin bikes for the last two years for regular maintenance work on my previous ebike. It was basically a mountain bike with a battery slapped on, so it wasn't tremendously complicated. The team there had been absolutely awesome about helping me keep my bike running. They understood it was my preferred main transportation and worked hard anytime it was in the shop to get it back to me asap. They noticed I kept having issues with punctures from road hazards and suggested a protective tire liner to reduce the number of flats I was getting. My tires were large 26" and they went out of their way to order these special for me. Anytime they came across something with my bike's electronics, they were upfront if they thought it was something out of their wheelhouse and would suggest a workaround. I loved that they were so close to my work and home so I could easily get my bike to them for maintenance. I have nothing but awesome things to say about the dedicated young team that works at this shop. Then my bike was stolen. It happens. I got a new one bike, a cargo ebike in a moped style. Was enjoying it greatly until a distracted parked driver "doored" me as I was coming home. My bike was damaged, breaking the handle on a brake and bending my pedals and crankshaft so the chain wouldn't stay on. None of the electronics were damaged, only the physical, mechanical components of the bike. When I arrived at Turin bikes on a Saturday, a man outside the store asked me about my bike. I was excitedly showing him that it could store an escooter in it while riding (my plan to get home), that it had a 550lbs capacity (so easily two medium-sized riders). As I was showing my bike, an older man whom I had never seen at the shop in the two years I had been coming, stepped out and looked my bike over. I came to understand this older man was the owner later. Thinking I was talking to another person interested in my bike, I began explaining it to him. His first question was if this was a "house" bike. It took me a second to understand what he was even talking about, but he made it clear I "didn't buy this bike from them," and it is, therefore, not a "house" bike. I said it was from amazon, a third party seller, and he made mention that they were more cheaply made and parts are sometimes special made (all valid points) but I needed a new handbrake lever and for my pedals, crankshaft, and chain to be replaced and realigned. He said that since they were connected in some way to the electronics of the bike, he couldn't work on them or attempt to replace the physical components. The older man said he didn't want me to bring the bike into the store, I wasn't attempting to, but this struck me as strange just because the owners obvious bias against "non-house ebikes" was defintely showing. He said they didn't have a rig that could support my bike for them to work on, and I would need to try a new shop. So in under about five minutes of arriving at the shop, the older gentleman has been insulting, told me my non-house bike was cheaply made, not allowed in his store, and I should go somewhere else. He suggested a bike shop three miles north in Rogers Park. I mentioned that I had brought my previous ebike to the store several times for work, and he seemed surprised. I said that it was more in the traditional mountain bike style, and he went in to get a technician to look over my bike. This was at least someone I recognized from before, one of the techs I had spoken to in person and seen behind the counter in the two years I patroned the store. He politely said what the older man did about the components being in the way and suggested the store three miles north again. I didn't ask about the tire liners at this point. I had never seen this older man before then at the store but I get it, my bike wasn't a "house" bike. I'll go elsewhere. "It takes years to make life long customer and seconds to lose one forever"

They made my unicycle look brand new! Also LOL for yall, when I “jumped down” from the unicycle in the store after sharing, my phone triggered a response to my car insurance thinking I was in a car accident and they were blowing up my phone to see if I was ok!

I need to get a new tire and tube for my Tern HSD, and Turin had me covered, even though it's not your usual size bike! They got me back up and riding in 24 hours without having to visit my specialty ebike shop all the way across the city. Thanks Turin! 🙏🏻

Had a Problem with my chain it ripped apart and some of the sprockets needed some replacement. The encounter with thier associates was perfect and right to the point. The service was perfect, what needed to be done was done fast and in high quality. More stores should be like that. Thank you.

Eli was a great help and made me glad I returned to Turin for some maintenance on my bike and to upgrade my cycling shoes. He not only answered all of my questions but gave me in depth info on the materials to consider when buying a bike. Much appreciated!
