Customer reviews indicate that Brown Cycles is a suitable option for road bike rentals in Grand Junction. They are noted as the only shop in the area offering drop-bar road bike rentals. Customers praised the friendly and thoughtful customer service, the quality of the rental bikes (Felt carbon frame with disc brakes), and the convenient pickup and drop-off service, which includes hotel delivery and a bike bag with essential tools.

However, there are significant concerns regarding their repair services. One customer shared a negative experience, highlighting issues with a bearing replacement. They reported delays, inadequate tools, and missing crankset parts, resulting in additional expenses at another bike shop. The customer also expressed dissatisfaction with the owner's response to their compensation request.

The reviews suggest that while Brown Cycles is a good option for bike rentals, particularly road bikes, customers should exercise caution when considering complex repairs. The staff is generally described as friendly and accommodating, but the shop may lack the necessary tools and expertise for certain repairs.

As a "Bicycle Shops Near Me" option, Brown Cycles is a shop offering bike rentals and repairs. It is recommended to contact them directly for specific inquiries regarding their rental options and to carefully consider the complexity of any repair work before entrusting them with your bike.

Friendly and thoughtful customer service! Rented a road bike from Brown Cycle - the only place in Grand Junction that rents drop-bar road bikes. They set me up with a Felt carbon frame with disc brakes that worked perfectly for a huge ride across the valley and UP and down through the Colorado National Monument. Pickup and drop off was super easy: they deliver bikes to downtown hotels! And provide a small bike bag with an extra tube, pump and tools in case you’re unlucky with all the thorns in this part of Colorado.

If you care about your bike don’t have it repaired here. I was travelling through town and needed to have bearings replaced. Showed up for a 0900 appointment and the owner casually informed me that the parts weren’t there yet. Five hours later the parts showed up and the tech tried his best to replace them quickly despite not having a bearing press. The next day, mid-ride, I realized the crank set was missing several pieces! After walking out of the Enchilada and spending $200, a super friendly knowledgeable mechanic in Moab had it all back together. I spoke with the owner of Brown cycles and he told me there were actually several parts in his shop I could pick up. When I asked about a possible compensation he said they already spent too much time on my bike for what I had paid. I imagine this would be a great place to buy or rent a bike. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The tech did his best without having the proper tools. If you have a complex repair go somewhere else.

Bringing home my first trail bike! Everyone was very informative and friendly. They did a good job on being straight up about the pros and cons on what we were looking at. Felt no pressure and if you buy new - they do one free tube replacement! Thanks Brown Cycles!

I would not recommend this shop. Be sure to get a receipt and a detailed explanation of all parts and labor. Be sure to request that all work is approved prior to having anything done. Leave a number and make the request. - I am adding to my original post. My girlfriend Melissa, came in to have a stem riser put on her bicycle. She paid for the stem riser and the labor upfront. She asked for me to pick it up for her. When I picked it up, I was notified that she owed a roughly additional $10 for a longer brake cable. I told the owner that I would let Melissa know and that she would be back in to pay the additional money. The owner was fine with that and let me take the bicycle with me. Melissa and I went out of town shortly afterwards for a family issue. While out of town, the owner called Melissa to inquire about the additional $10 and wanted her to put it on a credit card. She told him that she would stop by the shop and pay the monies when she got back into town. Within a couple of days, Melissa went down to the shop to make the payment at which time she was told the bill was now $34 and change. Needless to say, she was not happy. She expressed the previous facts to the owner and he adjusted the bill down to $15. I hope this gives perspective on why I made my comments about getting a detailed explanation of parts and labor. - I was not the customer and will not be. Melissa feels the same.

Went in to get some free air. Ended up having a great conversation, the owner ended up putting free zip ties on my bike and really buttoning up my single speed. Great experience. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new bike.
