Crested Butte is known as the birthplace of mountain biking, and it’s easy to see why. Located in Colorado, this charming town offers some of the best trails in the country. During my visit, I rode the famous 401 Trail, which provides a mix of singletrack, alpine meadows, and panoramic mountain views that make you feel like you're on top of the world. The area offers trails for every skill level, but it's especially renowned for its challenging and technical mountain routes that test even the most experienced riders. Whether you're looking to conquer high-altitude climbs or navigate rough terrain, Crested Butte should be on your mountain biking bucket list.

3. Pisgah National Forest, North Carolina: Endless Trails in the Heart of Appalachia

If you’re looking for a lush, forested environment with a variety of trails, Pisgah National Forest is a place I can’t recommend enough. The moment I rolled into Pisgah, I was surrounded by dense trees and stunning mountain scenery. The forest is home to hundreds of miles of singletrack trails, offering everything from smooth, flowy paths to steep, technical descents. My favorite ride here was the Black Mountain Trail, which took me through steep climbs and rocky terrain, ultimately rewarding me with a thrilling descent. Pisgah is a haven for riders who love both cross-country and downhill trails. The diverse terrain means there’s always something new to explore.

4. Downieville, California: The Ultimate Downhill Challenge
