Brought in an 80s Battaglin road bike hoping to find quality parts and great build quality. Both can be found here at Castro Valley Cyclery. Great experience working with John and Kyle, both super knowledgeable and friendly cyclist who know their stuff. Happy to find a shop that shares a similar passion for rebuilding bikes, especially vintage steel ones. Installed a Campagnolo 11 speed groupset, with some bomb bladed spoked wheels. The bike rides amazing and I am glad I took it CVC.

There is no one better for bikes. The shop is highly knowledgeable and 100% customer focused. They take to the time to understand your needs and where you are on your bicycling journey. I've personally purchased 5 bicycles from CVC and have been impressed with the attention to detail with the setup and follow-on service. They are constantly keeping up to date on the latest technologies and have great insight into, not only were the industry is, but also where it's going. They are truly a wealth of knowledge and they are more than willing to share. They might take a little time to get service, but that is because of the customer focus. Each customer and they're bikes are given the foremost attention. Because of this, CVC's service queue isn't always the shortest. Instead, that's a testament to the quality of their service.

Castro Valley Cyclery is a true gem. Owner John’s passion for cycling is undeniable—he’s raced and served as a team mechanic across nearly every discipline. Despite his extensive experience and deep knowledge, he remains approachable, answering even the most basic questions with patience and enthusiasm. I had the privilege of working for him in the late '90s, and during my time as a shop owner in the 2000s, we frequently traded favors. Even after leaving the industry, I continue to trust John’s expertise and go out of my way to support his shop. Highly recommended!

Here's a place that truly understands the many different types of cycling and how to assist people to better their cycling experience. Their staff here advocates for their customers, which is not always the case at other bike shops. You should know, It's not a huge shop, but big enough to most likely to meet your needs.

Great local bike shop. I've used them many times, often to just ask questions or get advice. Never any sales pressure. Last visit I was concerned about my chain wear, and after inspecting it the owner offered to change it then and there. I highly recommend them.
