Davis cyclery is definitely the best bike dealer I have ever visited. Jake is one of technicians in this store and he is definitely an expert of fixie bike. Whenever my fixie pop up some glitches and I can't deal with by myself, I would come over and find Jake.

I actually just recently went to this spot this weekend for a standard flat in my tire in my gotrax scooter. The first red flag should've been when the younger man working the shop had me drop it off and slapped a 50 dollar service fee claiming that fixing scooters takes a lot. Along with that, my tire was 50 dollars (pretty cheap in my opinion). I also asked for my brakes to be tightened due to me using them a lot and just wanting them to be tighter in general. I have had my scooter for over a year now and I know it very well. I was unaware that my scooter tire had a hole in it so I appreciated that the guy was honest with me and said it was an easy fix. I called the next day to check in because it had been 24 hours and no word. An older gentleman answered the phone and sounded frustrated and told me that the younger gentleman didn't tell him that he had to fix a scooter. I called 30 minutes before they closed for veterans day and I told him I could come another day but he insisted, stating it would be done and that it was not okay that I had to wait. The older guy calls me back the same day and I come to pick my scooter up. Second red flag; my scooter is jerking and I did not have that issue when I dropped it off. I told the older man the issue and he told me to give it a day and come back if I had any issues. Listening to his advice, I tried to ride my scooter the following day and it would turn on just to immediately turn off. The jerking continued and I knew right then and there that something was very wrong. I was able to take my scooter back and the older gentleman seemed upset to see me back. He said the younger gentleman would call me the next day (today as I write this) and that it should be fine. So today I waited and waited and finally I decided to call. The younger gentleman said that the older gentleman tightened my brakes too much and that something was going on with my tire drum (I'm still working out what this means but regardless) so I asked him if it was fixable and he said it was. I received a voicemail from the same guy and he claims that everything seemed fine and that he couldn't get my scooter password to work and that (my third and final red flag) anything electrical with my scooter was not their fault. I quickly arrive at the bike shop and try my scooter password to find that my whole console was reset. When I let the younger guy know that they definitely did something electrical to the point that my entire scooter reset itself, he denied that claim. I tested my scooter and it did not turn off this time, however, it still jerks. I did not bring my scooter to this shop with any issues besides a flat tire. When letting the younger guy know he again, denied those claims and essentially said he doesn't know what happened. In the end, I paid about 160 dollars for them to break my 700 dollar scooter. The only thing the younger guy offered me was an "electrical diagnosis" that he said would take a week AND I had to pay for it. I declined his services and quickly left. As a college student who relies on her scooter to get to campus and classes, it saddens me that I trusted this place just for them to break my only mode of transportation and deny ever doing so. And to the owner/workers who may read my review; shame on you. The younger gentleman already told me he had to "adjust" the work that the older gentleman did and then suddenly claimed that the scooter just so happened to have these issues AFTER I brought it to them. Safe to say, don't go to this place.

Recently, I expanded my exercise program to include several miles a day of biking. I traveled to Davis Cyclery to see what bikes they had available that could fit my needs. I was very impressed with not only the wide selection of bikes, but the welcoming and knowledgeable staff, the cleanliness of the store and the location. I was also impressed to see perspective customers trying out bikes in the adjacent lots and how the staff adjusted the bike for their comfort. After a considerable time at the store, and talking with their staff, I know that all my future biking needs will go directly through Davis Cyclery. I also plan to share my experiences with friends and family who may have a need for an upgrade, or new bike!
