I have thought long and hard about posting the review. I do not like giving bad reviews to businesses. But these guys are just terrible. I brought my bike in for a tune up. That was the last time this summer (the whole summer) that it worked. $365 and one week later (new chain, cassette, and a host of other things) I got bike back. Within 50 miles my drive train suffered a catastrophic failure with the chain coming apart and tearing off the derailluer stranding me. I brought it back in, I told them what happened and without looking at it, the guy said, "that's not what happened". Of course it is what happened and they agreed once they actually looked at it. They said that I needed a new bottom bracket. Waited 2 weeks. I said then that I was surprised that the rear derailleur was not damaged. They insisted it was not. Got the bike back, and in the first 8 miles, the rear detailer tore off stranding me again. They then said the derailleur was damaged (it was not visible damage) and replaced it (actually a decent one). One week later when I got it back, the guy said, "if this does not fix it then I have no idea". As soon as I got it back, the drive train was making noises but I thought it would just break in. Gradually over the next 50 miles, the drive train was increasingly clicking and skipping. So fed up and lacking any confidence in these guys knowing how to fix a bike, I took it to another bike shop. Bottom line, Tuckahoe had put back on the chain that had broken and the pin did not connect through and it had a kink. Extremely dangerous (See picture). It damaged the new cassette. I also found out that the deraulleur was not installed correctly. You need to align it with the wheel. It is simple to do and the misalignment was significant. The derailleur was also improperly tightened. If the chain had failed, I could have been thrown over the handle bars. In my many years of riding (and over 12 years on this bike) I have never had an experience like that. All I can say is that you are forewarned.

Support local small business especially when they are awesome. We got a used bike for my son’s birthday and realized it had a flat tire. We showed up on a holiday weekend at closing no less and Scott stopped what he was doing and changed it right away. The staff was amazing and took their time with us and my son was riding right away. Very grateful!!

I've been intertwined in the bicycle/cycling culture since I was a young kid. Frequently I found myself in and out of the ol' Schwinn shop in Somers Point for the better part of 15+ years. Unfortunately life got in the way, I fell out of cycling, but was lucky enough to dive back in these past few years. Unfortunately, the days of the Schwinn shop have come and gone but Tuckahoe has always been around. I'd never ventured in, nor had I heard much about it, up until recently. Which, after my experience the past week, had been for a very good reason. I took a brand new, $6k Trek Madone in for servicing. Not only was it completely filthy when I picked it up, grease and other residue covering top and seat tubes from where it had been attached to the stand to be service, but the front wheel had been over torqued resulting in the cracked paint pictured below. I'm unsure of the name or title of long-haired man I had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with that day, and days leading up to the incident -- but he was incredibly dismissive and condescending. Insisting the wheel hadn't been taken off, that they do every thing with the wheels on, and that it couldn't have possibly been over torqued--all amongst other ludicrous claims. He went as far as to insinuate that the damage was there before the bike was brought in. Days leading up to the servicing, I had been in and out of the store looking for various and sundry things, each time this man was there. Completely dismissive toward myself and other patrons within the store on more than one occasion. In one instance, scowling at kids looking to pick up tubes for the blownout ones from their BMX bikes. Condescendingly asking for tire size, not providing much education or any real customer service on more than one instance. I find it incredibly disheartening this level of professionalism, or lack there of, is now cultivated in one of the last remaining cycle shops in our area. When I was first getting into this sport, the education, love for the sport, and kind-hearted shop owners is what kept me heaving that solid wood door open and exploring the glass counter-tops at the Schwinn shop. However those days seem like a thing of the past in light of this most recent experience. Unfortunately I had even more go wrong with the bike, days after picking it up. Without having the opportunity of riding it since I picked it up, I set aside some time yesterday to try and ride. Unbeknownst to me, The front wheel was rubbing intensely on the disc brake. Presumably since I picked it up, but I never checked it. Who would after spending that kind of money on a for a tune. Completely devastated over the ~ $100 I had just spent, not even a week prior for a service on an expensive Aero Bike, I wanted to bring it back to be addressed but was terrified at the thought of any more damage being done. Nor did I want to experience dealing with the aforementioned individual that works there. Long story short, I addressed the issue myself and it turns out the brake pads had been removed and placed back in the caliper backwards. The pistons on the caliper had also never been reset. Your guess is as good as mine exactly what my ~$100 went towards, however I can assure you it will never go back into their pockets. I've consulted with other shops within the area, who have workers and bicycle technicians worlds kinder and more competent than those at Tuckahoe, and they've been incredibly helpful in trying to remedy the damage caused by Tuckahoe. Do yourself a favor, avoid this establishment at all costs -- it's money, time, and piece of mind wasted.

Another excellent experience at Tuckahoe Bike Shops! Years ago, Al took hooked us up with our Electra 7 Speed Cruisers. Now, back to Tuckahoe to research and learn about e bikes. Bruce and Heaven were knowledgeable in explaining all options and encouraged test rides. Thanks to Al and Jacob finalizing the selection of Velotric Discovery 1 e bike. Pictured is Al making the call to arrange delivery of the Velotric to Ocean City. Great people and service. Thank you, Tuckahoe Bikes!
