First time in the shop guy behind the counter charged me $27 for a tube (installed myself) that at most I have found for $13.99 and on sale for $8.99 I'm all for supporting local business's but a little curiosity would have been nice. I mean, I was the only customer in the store. I don't know if it is considered industry standard to overcharge that much for a tube, but I will take my money elsewhere if this is how they treat new customers. Highway robbery is bad for honest folk. Listed a photo of the exact tube below on Amazon.

Went to Alans Bike Shop to look at a different brand ebike. Was told about Aima Bikes. Turns out this a fantastic bike for too many reason to go into here. Walked out with the Aima Santa Monica. Thank you Alan's Bike Shop.

Moving to Oceanside, California, six months ago was an adventure. After my bike was stolen, a colleague gifted me two incredible rides—a classic cruiser (Lady) and a sleek 27-speed Kona with drop handlebars (Tramp). Since then, I’ve started to feel like Kevin Bacon in Quicksilver (fitting—I mention this because I’m in recovery, and I’ve let people down ). Cycling has become a humbling way to keep my focus on the road ahead. Enter Alan's Bike Shop, where Robert and Joe have become more than just expert bicycle technicians—they’re my go-to team for everything from gear advice to route strategies to the inevitable tire replacements that come with refusing to own a car in California. As a New Yorker, freeways terrify me—if it’s not a crowded gridlock, I’m out of my element. More buses than I care to admit have dropped me off at Alan’s, where I finally surrendered to chunkier tires in a battle against relentless roadwork. I can’t say enough about this shop—it’s more than a business; it’s a homecoming. A place where I can put the brakes on life, talk shop, and simply enjoy the ride.

Brought in my two brand new bikes that I purchased somewhere else because during my first ride, the gears were slipping so badly. Was greeted warmly and they patienly let me explain my frustration. They did a quick tune right on the spot and found the problem. Also found that my husband's wheel was lose on his bike and immediately checked mine as well. After 3 adjustments, bikes are riding like a dream. Even suggested a few other non emergency items that I need to have looked at when I get back from vacation. Had a really nice conversation while they checked out the bikes and they were clearly super knowledable and generally good guys.

I have been dealing with these guys since 2020. I have bought 3 e bikes from them. 1 was stolen, one i rode like i stole it, and this current one im a bit more protective with (sorta). They rember their coustmers by nane, make you feel welcome, do what they can to fix any issue, and all around a group of great guys. As for prices, lol go to one of the 4 bike shops in the 2 mile area. Youll come right back lol. I truly cant say enough good things.
