This shop is just down the street from our home, so when my eight-year-old was given a new bike for his birthday and we wanted to have the back brake checked and adjusted if needed, we walked down. We were also shopping for a helmet and bike lock. The owners first question when I asked if he could check my son‘s brake was “where did you buy the bike?” I responded that the bike was purchased on Amazon. (my son is eight and still learning so this is a practice bicycle) he then told me that he could take the bike in for repairs, and possibly have it back in a week, maybe longer. I was surprised, and responded that it would just be a quick adjustment, not a repair. (If it even needed that.) He responded “I am not going to put you in front of another customer when you bought this on Amazon”. (He was standing in an empty shop with no customers in sight) He was rude, and that certainly was not what I was asking him to do at all- we weren’t asking for a repair or for him to do anything for free. We went down to Sadie‘s, where we were met with kindness, they looked at my son’s brake and it needed absolutely nothing. It took less than a minute. So that is where we spent 60 bucks on a helmet and lock. And when it is time for us to invest some money in a bicycle, not only for my son, but for the rest of our family, that is where we will be going. You missed out on a good repeat local customer.

Although I did not purchase a bicycle from Basically Bicycles myself, therefor I am not able to comment on follow-up service and assistance, I can comment on the shop itself, the inventory offered, and the sales staff. Located on the main street in Turners Falls, MA, Basically Bicycles appears as a quaint little New England shop. But upon entering, you will realize immediately that the inventory is not typical. This shop carries the largest inventory of adult high-end tricycles in the area. They, of course, also have a moderate inventory of high-end bicycles as well. Sales staff is available, attentive, and friendly. Not pushy in any way. There is plenty of metered street parking, and it is an ideal location to take a bike or a trike for a test ride. If you are shopping for a good, quality bike or trike, you must include Basically Bicycles on you short list of where to go.

Great Bike shop. Owner was very knowledgeable and helpful. Good cross section of recumbents and trikes. Great area for test riding. Shop was highly recommended by a trike rider on the minuteman trail. Glad we followed the recommendation since it was well worth the visit.

Stopped in at Basically Bicycles yesterday and spoke with the owner Dave for over an hour. He was very helpful and explained a lot about the various models and options for Catrikes. At no point was there any pressure at all to buy one. He did offer to let us take the trikes down to the local bike path and ride them for as long as we wanted. At this point we are gathering more information about recumbent bikes and are not yet in a position to afford them. However when that day comes we will certainly consider Basically Bicycles as a great resource for Catrike.

very helpful & nice shop owner. He let me take a ride on one of the bikes I was interested in and made sure I knew how to ride it, as it's a recumbent rather than regular bike.
