I originally contacted Bicycle Czar (Brooks and Dave) several months ago after I saw a refurbished Centurion Niko road bike on their website. I have the same model and inquired if they knew any local bike shops in the San Jose area that might be able/willing to refurbish my 40+ year bike. I was trying to avoid a 4 hour round trip car ride to Bicycle Czar in Santa Rosa from San Jose. Brooks gave me a couple of contacts. Unfortunately, these shops and others I contacted had similar reasons why they couldn’t upgrade/refurbish my bike – parts unavailable and the bike is too old, “you would be better off buying a new bike.” I decided to go with Bicycle Czar. I sent Brooks a picture of the bike (gear side) and he replied he could do the job. I dropped off my bike (soon to be my younger son’s) three weeks ago. I was impressed by the neatly organized shop with bins of vintage parts. Yesterday, I pick up the bike – looks better than new. For those of you who are reluctant to scrap your vintage bike as I was then you should contact Bicycle Czars. I’m glad I did!!

Not only did they have a bike to sell me during the great bike shortage of 2020, but the customer service and friendliness of this place has been amazing. This bike is geared differently than bikes I am used to. It got a flat and in changing the tire, the gears stopped working. Called over to the bike shop, dropped it off, repaired quickly and it cost $20. They gave me some advice and said bring it back if you need us.

Great local shop with a well curated collection of bikes, gear, and friendly staff. I found a Trek Checkpoint SL in great condition on the shop’s website. Coordinated with Brooks to stop by and take it for a test ride. He gave me a nice deal on the bike, installed a Bontrager rack, and pointed me to an exceptional Puerto Rican spot for lunch. Grade A service, stop by today!

Brooks always delivers. Bought my fourth bike from him today, and I’m always happy with his product. He even took the time to adjust my new bike to fit my body type.

I just purchased a second bike at Bicycle Czar after my first one five years ago. It’s beautiful!! Dave took such great care of me! I tried many bikes until I found the right one and he swapped parts to meet all my needs. Top notch service and the bikes are a great price and in pristine condition. I’m so happy!
