I have been a customer for years and bought several bikes from Ocean cyclery. I recently bought my 8 year old son's bike before Christmas. Jeffrey is very knowledgeable and skilled as a bike mechanic. I brought my home project bike to him, dubed the Frankenstein bike, and he fixed all the bugs out of it. Now it rides like a Gucci bike should.

Jeff is AMAZING- his knowledge of bicycles is AMAZING. Went ahead and bought this new bike from them today.

Jeff, the owner got weird about me not giving him my personal email (one reserved for friends and family) when I was quoted. Was told a few days, maybe a week if they had to order the part, and $90 total to fix one issue. A few days go by and I had to call and check up on progress, they had to order the part and should be done early next week. I get a call early next week, they can't order part from usual vendor(but somehow only figuring this out now) and would have to buy from eBay. I say, sure, whatever. Bike finally done, 2 weeks after drop off. I pick it it up, he charges me $109, saying he was charging me for additional work he did. I asked why they did extra work, I wasn't told and didn't request it. He says they just did for safety and that $109 is new total. I refuse to pay for work I didn't want, we argue, he finally agrees that dropping additional charges on the customer at the register was inappropriate and will charge me original $90 (was also trying to say that estimates can be off by 10% as though his extra $19 was somehow 10% or $90).... regardless I pay....he charged me $109...... Much disappointment. I get refunded for $109 and then recharged $90 on card (hopefully, I'm writing this before the refund is showing up on my card). Anyways, I don't think everyone will have this poor of an experience, but I did.

Love this store! The staff and super friendly and helpful. I bought a bike from them a couple of months ago and I take all the family bikes here. Jeff has a lifetime of experience and takes the time to explain everything.
