Pacific E-Bike Introduce

Pacific E-Bike, located at 2735 San Pablo Ave, Berkeley, CA 94702, is a unique bicycle shop specializing in electric bikes, particularly their own "Emazing Bikes." Situated in Berkeley's industrial area, the shop's outward appearance is unconventional, featuring a corrugated roll-up door and frosted glass windows. However, the personalized service and expertise offered inside set it apart.

Owned and operated by Scott, Pacific E-Bike provides a range of services, including sales, repairs, and expert advice on e-bikes. Scott, who is described as a "one-man band," offers a soft-sell approach and prioritizes customer education. He is known for his willingness to teach customers how to maintain their bikes, even offering free repairs and advice.

The shop offers a selection of e-bikes, including custom builds and both new and older models. Notably, they feature "Emazing Apollo+" bikes, which are praised for their competitive specifications and features, such as mid-frame motors, throttles, LED panels, and high-capacity batteries. These bikes are described as offering similar or superior performance to more expensive "name brand" e-bikes.

Customers highlight Scott's exceptional customer service, including:

  • Personalized consultations and test rides.
  • Detailed explanations of e-bike features and differences (e.g., hub vs. mid-frame motors).
  • Free repair adjustments and maintenance tutorials.
  • A willingness to allow extended test rides with no obligation to buy.
  • Honest and helpful advice, encouraging customers to explore other options.

Despite some potentially misleading initial appearances, Pacific E-Bike is highly recommended for those seeking knowledgeable and helpful service for electric bikes in the Berkeley area. The shop can be contacted at (510) 843-2453 or +1 510-843-2453.

I definitely recommend this place! Scott is the man! I brought my bike to get the rear brake pads replaced. I rolled up right after he opened up and he had me chill in front for about 5mins then came out with tools in hand, even showed and explained to me how to replace my pads for next time. It literally took him about 3mins! On top of that he refused payment, because he's just that type of guy. He would rather educate and help someone out than charge an arm and a leg like most other places tried to do. Even gifted me a free shirt! Sheesh! The service and my experience was second to none! I will definitely be going back when my bike needs some more work. I hope everyone reads this review bc this place is awesome! Thanks Scott!! O by the way those one star reviews were 100% Karen's with a thumb up their u know what!! Haters always gona hate.. Lmao!

You can't judge a book by its cover!  (At least I can't.)  Pacific E-Bike is located in the heart of Berkeley's industrial neighborhood, surrounded on all sides by heavy-duty factories.  Instead of a slick storefront displaying bicycles and accessories, you'll find a corrugated roll-up door, half open, and frosted glass windows that offer no view inside.  Above the door is a sign, printed on heavy fabric that simply says "Pacific E-Bike, Home of Emazing Bikes."  This is not your typical bicycle shop, and the outward appearance might be a turn-off for some people!  Once inside the door, you will find an odd collection of bikes--some old, some new, some custom--but all with motors.  Then you will be greeted by Scott, the owner and one-man band.  He is the salesman (soft-sell only here), mechanic/repairman, and all-around advisor on e-bikes.  (He was one of the first to get into the e-bike business.) My wife and I were in the market for e-bikes.  We had been to two other Berkeley bike shops and had test ridden two imported European e-bikes, both in the $4K-$5K price range.  A friend of ours owns one of Scott's e-bikes, and that's what brought us to him.  I had made an appointment on Scott's website for our visit, and when we arrived, he gave us his undivided attention.  He let us ride a couple of Emazing E-Bikes around his neighborhood to get a feel for them.  He carefully explained the difference and pros and cons of a hub motor versus a mid-frame motor.  I am not one to rush into buying decisions, so I told Scott I wanted to think about it and come back.  He suggested we come back another day and take two bikes for up to a full day with absolutely no obligation to buy.  He actually encouraged us to check out the competition and test ride other e-bikes. We did return, and we did take two bikes for a couple of hours.  Then we bought them.  We decided on the Emazing Apollo+ bikes because we live in the Berkeley hills and wanted the additional power of the mid-frame motor over the hub motor.  When comparing the specifications of the Apollo+ to many of the other "name brand" e-bikes, we were delighted to see how well those specifications either matched or exceeded e-bikes costing 50-100% more. After riding in the steep hills for a couple of weeks, the brakes on our bikes needed a small adjustment.  I like doing things myself, but didn't want to attempt that on a new bike.  I took the bikes to Scott, and he not only did the adjustment right on the spot, but he taught me how to do it and told me what tool to buy and use. We love our bikes!  They have all of the bells and whistles of the more expensive e-bikes, as well as a feature not found on all e-bikes--a throttle.  The throttle, a small lever operated with the thumb of the left hand, applies power without pedaling, and that makes it very easy to start riding when facing uphill.  Of course there is an LED panel showing all pertinent information, as well as a large battery for maximum distance.  The derailleur and brakes are top-quality. Thank you to Pacific E-Bike!  Thank you Scott! John & Terry -- two happy customers!

💥 Read before you buy! 💥 There is other reviews here which in my opinion are just Karen's and can't handle an owner that speaks clearly and directly that actually wants to help! If you are looking for a e-bike shop that doesn't screw you on price, tells you exactly what you need, and provides in my opinion the best service, directly, and without any fluff, then Scott is your man. I've never seen an e-bike shop and ownership be as direct and tell me exactly what I need, with some of the BEST custom e-bikes in the bay. Try for yourself and thank me later.

I'm a novice e-bike owner who received a new bike with tire damage, and didn't know whether it was safe to ride. Stopped by and Scott gave it a free inspection and some great advice, even though I didn't purchase the bike through him. Says he cares most about rider safety and less cars on the road. What a great experience - next bike will be purchased from him. Thank you!!
