    Onyx definitely had issues regarding an overly optimistic timeline for delivery and relative lack of open communication. However, the bikes are coming out (I got mine last week) and they have made great effort to improve their communication and customer support. My initial impressions of the bike are that it is pretty amazing. I think it looks great and it is extremely quick. I was impressed by how quickly I felt comfortable riding it as I never have used an electric bike before but it is comfortable and handles well. The other thing that I liked is when you actually talk to the people working at Onyx you could tell they were passionate about the bike and were working hard to fix (or at least manage) their growing pains.

    Great company, and great bike! I took delivery of one of the first few bikes, and have had zero issues over the last 1600 miles. Tim is an awesome guy with a great vision, and James was able to take what Tim started and make it ever better. Bikes are getting shipped every week, and they still manage to quickly respond to inquiries in their help system. My only regret is not purchasing a second bike when I first placed my pre-order.

    Unfortunately have to give them 1 star. Just an overall poor experience. 3-4 month delivery estimate was expected, brand new bike having major problems at only 19.5 miles was not expected. Waited 2 weeks for their tech dept to give me some sort of solution to repair the bike, & they never gave me a response. Susan was very kind and helpful after I wanted a refund for the bike, but literally the minute I returned the bike, Susan was suddenly unavailable & she apparently was the only one in the company who knew how to handle my account and handle refunds. All I asked was they send me my $ back as soon as they can & I specifically requested I did NOT want to go back & forth with emails chasing after my $. But that’s exactly what happened. Constantly gave me dates that they would give me the refund on x day, but always got pushed back. Told me they finally succeeded getting me the refund, but due to their inexperience, they didn’t do it properly which resulted in another follow up email which they didn’t respond too for days. Took me nearly a month to actually get my $ back after they initially promised me to get me the refund on the day I returned the bike. Just a shame since this was my dream bike & wanted to get it for a couple yrs. Even though the refund process was frustrating as all hell, I just wish they sent me a working bike that didn’t die after 2 days of using it. At that price point, a bike like that needs to last for a very long time. Maybe I was one of those rare customers that got a faulty bike, but the overall experience, especially the non-stop back & forth emails, was just inadequate & sub standard.

    I ordered mine 9/1/2020 Happy to keep yall updated on my experience and expectations. Im so impatient to get my bike and i have yet to ride one C² is all in. I live in the sf bay area and once i get my bike in far-near future i wish i can get my first responder self to work quicker ; more efficiently and above all SAFELY. Onyx team do your thing. Ill be impatiently patiently waiting. If only they did loaner bikes. I'm mid lifestyle change and want to get ahead of the game.

    UPDATE: I got my Onyx a week ago, I've ridden about 50 miles so far and it is much better than I expected. I was a little worried it would be too small but its a good size, comparable to a larger moped (I'm 6 ft). The power/speed/range are excellent and it zips up hills with no problem. The "sport" mode is FAST. This thing is near perfect and worth the wait, plus its a head turner; anytime I park people will ask about it. Great job ONYX! Now in the interest of a thorough review there are a few minor things to be aware of: The key fob is glitchy, the hand grips are too small, and the instructions you download are lacking. The biggest issue (although its still minor given how awesome this bike is) is the wooden battery cover, it is a pain in the butt to get locked on. I dread anytime I have to remove and reinstall it and I wish it had a better design. Also the seat seems like it won't last as the material has already worn away from installing the cover. I will definitely be making a new cafe seat asap. Also be aware that Haulbikes (the delivery service) is very disorganized, they gave me the wrong delivery date twice and said their trucks are too big to fit in Baltimore city so I had to meet the truck in a suburban parking lot to get it. BUT I want to emphasize that given a few minor issues the ONYX is overall amazing and unlike anything out there and I love this bike!
