Customer reviews for Velocipede Cyclery reveal significantly differing experiences. One customer praised the shop for its transparency and excellent service. They highlighted the shop's willingness to discuss service levels and component choices, avoiding unnecessary recommendations and high-priced parts. They also appreciated the shop's patience with their picky nature, recommending Velocipede for both purchases and service.

However, multiple other customers reported negative experiences. They described the staff as unprofessional and exhibiting "teenage angsty attitudes." One customer claimed they were lied to about a warranty claim, and that the staff acted like "little children." They also mentioned that locals had reported similar negative attitudes. Another customer echoed the sentiments about unprofessional behavior and advised against trusting the shop for bike service.

These conflicting reviews suggest a significant inconsistency in customer experiences at Velocipede Cyclery. While some customers appreciate the shop's transparent service, others have encountered unprofessional and dishonest behavior. Potential customers should be aware of these contrasting experiences before visiting the shop.

As a "Bicycle Shops Near Me" option, Velocipede Cyclery offers bike sales, service, and repairs. It is recommended to contact them directly for specific inquiries regarding their services and to be aware of the mixed customer reviews before engaging with this business.

I love this shop. I've been to every bike shop in a two mile radius and this is really the best one. Any number of features about this shop is great, but what stood out to me is the transparency with which they perform service. They don't recommend anything unnecessary, and indeed will discuss with you what level of service or quality of parts makes sense. They don't automatically order the most expensive components, but discuss with you which parts may work for you and why. I am a picky customer and they have been very patient with me. Highly recommend Velocipede, be it for a purchase or service.

Yikes - come here if you want: unprofessional, teenage angsty attitudes from grown adults who will lie and shouldn't be trusted to service your bike properly if you accidentally look at them the wrong way. I came here to test ride a bike one weekend when they were clearly not busy, but ended up buying from a friend instead (who would say no to saving over $1,000?). Came back for a warranty claim and to buy accessories - wanting give them some support. Bought an accessory but they acted like some little children who were just grounded; took my info and lied about filing a warranty claim. I know they get compensated for warranty service from Specialized, and I was willing to pay for their time anyways. Spoke to a bunch of locals after who said they got similar attitudes from them. Oh well, thankfully there are several other professional bike shops around town to provide business to instead.

Everyone at Velocipede is sharp— they know their stuff, get things done efficiently, and never try to pressure you into getting more work done than you might need. I’ve been getting parts and service here for a couple years, and even now that I live farther out I’ll still make the trek over— definitely trust them compared to less reliable experiences I’ve had at other shops.

Pro level service for any bike. I came in to have my 15 year old Trek Madone bike worked on. The service was excellent and Fred and his crew were patient in answering questions and going over options. I loved the advice/service and went back to browse the store in more depth and got to see quite a range of bikes from electric to road to casual. While I wasn’t looking to buy a new bike as they’d just fixed my old one, I was curious about what’s out there and asked a lot of questions about the range of bikes they have. In the end, I did end up buying a new bike. The fact that they are detail oriented, great listeners and informative (without being biased) helped me make a confident decision in a relatively big investment. The bike set up was also complex and required multiple trials to find the right fit for me but Fred and his team were always patient and willing to try different set ups. The most important factors for me were their patience and expertise, I wouldn’t have bought a new bike of this nature if I didn’t feel confident in their post purchase support. All star service all around and they also happen to be in a great neighborhood for testing out a bike if you’re in the market for a new ride. Side note: I also saw several riders come in with basic service needs like flat tires... again, they treated everyone wonderfully and offered a high level of service whether the bikes were newer or older — as I had experienced in bringing a 15 year old bike for service here initially.

Sometimes you go to a bike shop. The staff are REALLY friendly, all smiling faces, and then you leave the shop wondering, 'hmmm I am really not sure if they can take care of my bike.' And sometimes you go to a bike shop. The mechanic seems a bit grumpy and makes 'awkward' jokes. But as soon as your bike is clamped to the stand and even before you start your 'hmmm, so I think the issue is...,' the mechanic points out the issue for you already, and in less than 2 minutes you are like oh hell yea my bike is in good hands. I would pick the second bike shop 100/100 times, and on top of that, they are great people, and they make awesome jokes. One of the only few bike shops in the city that knows how to work with an electronic Campy groupset. Know their stuff super well. No nonsense. Great communication. I just moved to the city late last year and have been to quite a few bike shops in the neighborhood. Velocipede will surely be my go-to bike shop from now on.
